A corruption has soaked
into these woodlands, spread by terrible nightmares brought to life. The
twisted limbs of once healthy trees snake in all directions, reaching with
clawed wooden talons and the rustle of drying leaves. Myth claims that this
forest was borne of living, moving beings, their human forms now frozen in
eerie bark as punishment for transgressions vile and best left unknown. These
days only the hags keep company beneath the foliage so travelers best walk with
care.
